The Darkness of Despair

Updated: Mar 24

Have you ever thought about your own death, maybe even what your last words would be? Has your darkness ever crept up on you as you stared in the mirror on a rainy morning, and you wondered if anyone would even notice you were gone? Would your death be a welcome respite to those who find you a burden? Would it be welcomed for those who held a grudge for petty differences, destroying a relationship? How dark have you gotten? Have you ever said your goodbyes without the person that you're speaking to ever knowing? How close have you come when you sunk to your lowest, deepest depths of depression?

The feelings above might be difficult to grasp unless you’ve been there. That is depression. Most people who suffer have thought about their death more times than you know, and many have toyed with the idea of producing it themselves. That’s true pain. It’s the open door to end the suffering. That kind of death is something we like to avoid discussing. We turn away from it, and therefore, we turn away from the people who suffer. That is why we must talk about it. We must raise our voices and let them be heard, and more importantly, let people who have said their goodbyes know that they are not alone.

Death will come to us all, and for some not naturally. For some it will come from sheer desperation as they dance in the darkness of despair.
